Diff Lockers

Air Lockers require the need of an onboard air system. Majority of the builds we do in the EC Offroad workshops generally get fitted out with an onboard air system for either rear load assist when it comes to air bags, or on board air for pumping up tyres. Adding a manifold tank or tapping in to an existing air tank designed specifically for air lockers is an easy add on and doesn’t require a whole new system on board. If you don’t have or want an on board air system, then the E-Locker system is potentially going to be a better or cheaper option for you.

Electronic Locker or E-Locker systems have very similar system that engages a solenoid that locks your diff into place electronically as opposed to an air solenoid system. The e locker has been around for many years now and been tested in a number of vehicles and has definitely stood the test of time also. They were always looked at as the weaker link in the early days, however with refinement early on and now being tested for a longer period of time, we now see them to be as good as the air lockers in many cases, and avoids the need to have an air system installed, which overall can save a lot of time and money.
